Samsung Galaxy Quick Share AirDrop Issue Acknowledged

Samsung recently added AirDrop support to Galaxy phones. This uses the Quick Share feature. However, this feature is not working perfectly. It first appeared on the Galaxy S26 phones. Now it is coming to older Galaxy phones. This is through the beta version of One UI 8.5.

This feature lets you share files easily. You can share between Galaxy and iPhone. But users found a problem. The metadata for shared items is not correct. This is according to Android Authority. Metadata is extra information. It tells you file size and creation date. This info should travel with the file.

Galaxy phone owners noticed that some metadata is lost. This happens when sharing to an iPhone. Location data is lost. Camera lens data for photos is also lost. The problem is worse for videos. Very little metadata is kept. Only video resolution might remain.

A Samsung moderator confirmed the issue. It is on the Korean Samsung community site. The moderator said the Quick Share team knows about the bug. They are working to fix it. The fix will be in the next software update.
